The Governments of the Member States of the present Convention, on behalf of their peoples, declare:

[…] that the dignity of man demands the diffusion of culture and general education in an intent of justice, freedom and peace, so that all nations incur sacrosanct duties to be fulfilled in a spirit of mutual assistance; […] For these reasons, the States that have signed the present Convention hereby establish the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, with the aim of being able to achieve gradually, through the cooperation of the nations of the whole world in the field education, science and culture, the goals of international peace and common prosperity of humanity, purposes for which the United Nations Organization has formed itself and which its Charter proclaims.

The Youth Committee aims to support the activities of the Italian National Commission for UNESCO in the fields of education, science, culture and communication, promoting projects, values and priorities in local communities, through the search for the active participation of young people and civil society in initiatives and events of national importance.
