UNESCO Giovani presents the UNESCO Italian Youth Forum. The first international forum of young Italians entirely dedicated to the great themes of UNESCO will take place in Matera from 23rd to 25th February. The initiative is among those promoted by the MIBACT within the official program of the European Heritage Year, which will take place over the course of 2018, and falls on the 25th anniversary of the inscription of the site “I sassi e il parco delle chiese rupestri” on the World Heritage List.
The young participating members, between 18 and 35 years, will be the protagonists of the event, exchanging ideas, stimulating discussion and immersing themselves in the various UNESCO themes with the aim of focusing on the enhancement, development and transmission of Italian cultural heritage.
There are numerous scheduled interventions with speakers from the world of institutions, culture, the third sector. These include the President of the Italian Commission for UNESCO Franco Bernabè, Basma El Husseiny, Director of Culture Resource (Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy), Cairo; Unesco expert in Cultural Governance and “Diversity of Cultural Expressions”; Ferdinand Richard, President of the Roberto Cimetta Fund. From 2010 to 2015, he was the first coordinator of the panel of experts of UNESCO’s International Fund for Cultural Diversity.
The Forum wants to deepen in particular the themes of education, innovation, dissemination and sustainable development, seizing the opportunities and moments of future growth and promotion.
Among the activities open to the public, after registration, a series of training workshops, with a limited number and conducted by experts in the field, on the main themes of the Forum. Volunteers participate in it by right.
The workshop participants will have the opportunity to get to know and touch the reality of UNESCO Giovani, becoming part of an active and stimulating group of 300 members, students, researchers, artists, professionals, managers and entrepreneurs who have at heart the great themes of UNESCO and their application and dissemination among young people and on the territory.
During the workshops the various topics will be analyzed and the programmatic documents will be developed with the best practices to be adopted for the current year.
