UNESCO Giovani for the International Jazz Day: April 30th throughout Italy to the rhythm of music

On April 30th the International Jazz Day, promoted by UNESCO to celebrate jazz and its role as an art form capable of sensitizing public opinion as an educational tool and as an engine for peace, unity, dialogue and cooperation between peoples. An event of global importance celebrated in more than 190 countries, which will see the main event in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia. In Italy the International Jazz Day 2018 will be celebrated from North to South thanks to the commitment of the Youth Association for UNESCO, which with its 300 members supports and promotes values, initiatives and projects related to the UNESCO world in Italy, strongly reaffirming the role of young people as drivers of social change.
Strengthened by the success of past editions, even this year part of the events are made in collaboration with I-Jazz.
Rich and varied the program of events, with concerts, presentations, workshops and initiatives
in all the regions of Italy united, for the first time in a systematic, capillary and coordinated way, since by the rhythm of jazz. From north to south, a program full of shows, conferences, projections and other initiatives linked to heritage sites and symbol of the territory, to enhance the duo “great music and great beauty “.
The celebration of the International Jazz Day will be an opportunity to revive the campaign #veritàpergiulioregeni, supported by the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO already on the occasion of the Italian National Forum held in Matera in February.

I-JAZZ Born in 2008, the I-Jazz national association gathers some of the best known and followed Italian jazz festivals. To date, it associates over 40 festivals for a total of 4,500 concerts and 6700,000 spectators. The Association pursues the goal of disseminating projects related to jazz, from exhibitions and festivals, to circuits that unite various cities and theaters on a regional or provincial basis at summer festivals based in evocative and prestigious places, contributing to the commitment for a music reform open to all quality content. It is also a member of the newborn Italian Jazz Federation.
The International Jazz Day – Since 2012, worldwide, on April 30th is the International Jazz Day. An initiative established by the UNESCO General Conference for promote peace and dialogue between nations. An important point for jazz, recognized as musical genre that contributes to the growth of intercultural dialogue and the diffusion of the tolerance.
